Sunset Coast Properties
Sunset Coast Properties – Love Where You Live
On the West Coast, Western Cape, South Africa
Our Story
Sunset Coast Properties began in 2008, when husband-and-wife team Rene Vercuiel and Justus Brandt opened their own real estate franchise in St Helena Bay. Over the next decade they built it into a highly successful operation, earning national recognition in 2016 as Broker Owners of the Year for a single franchise.
In 2017, Rene and Justus made the decision to go independent — not to start over, but to bring their own values fully into their own name. They called it Sunset Coast Properties, inspired by the ever-changing, ever-beautiful sunsets along the West Coast: a daily reminder that no two are alike, and that each one marks a day's dreams and goals fulfilled, with the promise of a new sunrise to come. It's a fitting name for a business built on helping people move through life's chapters — one home at a time.
Our Founders
Rene Vercuiel, our principal, brings over two decades of real estate expertise and a genuinely varied business background to the industry. Her career began in banking, before moving through short-term insurance, medical aid, pensions, and investments — including a long stint with the Liberty Group — before she found her true calling in property. She became a qualified property practitioner in January 2004, and four years later, she and her husband Justus Brandt opened their own franchise together in 2008.
Justus Brandt spent 30 years in banking, rising to senior bank manager across several branches, before moving into real estate in 1998. He and Rene relocated their business from Blouberg to St Helena Bay in 2008, and together brought 49 years of combined real estate experience to the company they built — Justus with 27 years, Rene with 22 (as at 2026).
In September 2025, Justus passed away at the age of 80. His legacy lives on through the business he and Rene built together, now carried forward by Rene and their son, Justus Junior — still a family business, still guided by the values Justus helped establish.
