Riebeek Valley

Before the arrival of settlers in the area, the Riebeek Kasteel Valley was a plain filled with wildlife and there is evidence that early tribesmen had resided here for millennia. One of Jan van Riebeeck’s corporals, Pieter Cruythoff summated the neck of the mountain and named it Kasteelberg in his mentor’s honour.
