Clanwilliam
One of the oldest towns in South Africa, Clanwilliam is located in the Swartland region of the Western Cape. The Vortrekkers settled along the Olifants River in 1732 and in 1820 established a magistrate’s court in Clanwilliam. The settlement grew quite slowly and in 1901 a fire nearly destroyed all the homes. There are a number of beautiful dams found in the Clanwilliam area, which are popular locations for those who wish to buy houses and homes here.
Today, Clanwilliam is a flourishing town at the centre of the Rooibos tea production industry. Rooibos grows exclusively in the sandy valleys of the Cedarberg region. A fertile area, grapes and citrus are also grown here, with a number of fine wine estates for sale in the area. The extensive dams in the area provide excellent water for the various farms for sale in the outlying areas of Clanwilliam. Those who buy property
