Located at the foot of the Klein Swartberg Mountain range in the Klein Karoo, Ladismith is part of the world famous Route 62 in the Western Cape. The town is relatively small and lies about 300km east of Cape Town and 100km west of Oudtshoorn. There is an impressive mountain peak cleft in two that stands watch over Ladismith, which local legend believes is the handiwork of an angry witch who found the mountain obstructing her path.
