Witsand
Known as the home of the Southern Right Whale, Witsand is a small coastal town found on the Garden Route in the Western Cape. St Sebastian Bay houses the single largest winter migration population of the Southern Right Whale and they can be seen from the coast at close proximity, or viewed by boat with one of the local whale watching operators. There is a variety of watersport activity that takes place here, including bathing and windsurfing, snorkeling and spear fishing, as well as deep sea and river angling. Those who buy houses and homes in Witsand can take advantage of the fantastic beaches and all that it has to offer.
Situated at the mouth of the Breede River, Witsand is known for its oyster breeding ground in the estuary and sharks are also found in the area. It is thought to be an excellent base for exploring the surrounding areas and so is popular with the tourist and holiday sector. The quaint fishing
