A small town on the Garden Route in the Western Cape, Hartenbos is a popular holiday resort and comes alive during the school holidays. The town began its existence as a farm that was granted to Esaias Meyer as a reward from the Dutch East India Company, after he assisted shipwrecked sailors off the coast.
