Glentana
Glentana is a coastal village situated on the Western Cape’s Garden Route and lies just east of the Greak Brak River, almost halfway between Mossel Bay and George. The beaches are stunning, topped by fynbos covered cliffs that plunge steeply into the ocean. The name of the village appears to come from a strong connection between the area and a certain whiskey still brewed in Northern Scotland.
Despite the ever-increasing demand for property along the Garden Route, Glentana manages to maintain a relatively untouched appeal. There is a beautiful combination of milkwood trees, white sandy beaches and rocky outcrops that lend a powerful presence to this area that is bound to leave a lasting impression on residents and visitors alike. The bay lies in an old riverbed where shells can be collected and fishing is an enjoyable pastime.
Glentana originated as a smattering of houses during the early 1900s and has grown in popularity over the years. There is little more than wide open sea to the south and waves that thunder, the immensity of which has created a number of sea caves to be explored. Some of the more well known of these caves include Helm’s Hole, Jessica’s Cave and those at Cape Windlass Beach. There is no doubt why property is such great value for money in Glentana, especially one considers its prime location.
