Strand

Named for the Afrikaans word meaning ‘beach’, Strand is found along the False Bay coastal road at the foot of the Hottentots Holland Mountains. Founded in 1714 as a holiday and fishing resort, Strand has fast become a popular residential area and has expanded to the point where it now joins the inland town of Somerset West.
