A resort town on the Kwazulu Natal South Coast, Scottburgh is situated at the mouth of the Mpambanyoni River and lies about 58kms from Durban. Named after the Natal Colony Governor at the time, it became the first township to be laid out south of the province’s capital. The various properties to buy in Scotburgh range from residential homes, to holiday houses and vacant land for sale in the outlying areas.

Famous for its strelitzia flowers, Scottburgh is also home to a lagoon formed by the river, but the weather has caused fluctuations over the years and the surface area and volume are never constant. An attempt was made to use the bay to export sugar but there was little protection from the rough seas. Those who buy property here are bound to experience some of Natal’s infamous extreme weather conditions, with floods and droughts not an unusual occurrence.
