Located in northern Kwazulu Natal, Dundee is nestled in the Biggarsberg Valley and is a town that professes much history and culture. Originally established on a farm, named after the Scottish owner’s hometown, the area is known for its natural beauty and picturesque mountain peaks. Dundee became the meeting point of seven roads that made their way to and from the hinterland and the African coast. There are a number of residential houses and homes for sale here, as well as various farms and smallholdings to buy.

Dundee is surrounded by evocatively titled mountain peaks, such as Indumeni (where the thunder rolls), Mpati (place of good waters) and Talana (shelf for precious items). The rich coal deposits found in the area attracted various merchants and fortune hunters. The Dundee Coal and Estate Company was set up and inspired the growth of service facilities and accommodation in the area. A number of stately
