Randburg
A large town located in Gauteng, Randburg is made up of 32 suburbs that were amalgamated in July 1959. Its name is derived from the national currency, which replaced the pound sterling in 1959. The residential suburbs in Randburg tend to be more affluent than most places in the greater Johannesburg area, with various luxury houses and homes, apartments and flats for sale. The properties for sale are known to be quite large, making great family homes with plenty of room to spread out.
Randburg was one of the areas declared white-only during the apartheid years and as a result, the demographic tends to be mostly English and Afrikaans speaking, but it has become more varied since government declared a democracy. Those who buy property in Randburg can take advantage of the excellent infrastructure that has developed in the area, with a variety of shopping and entertainment facilities.
