Edenvale
A town located in the Gauteng Province of South Africa, Edenvale’s name is a reflection of the nurtured growth that has taken place there over the years, with “Eden” referring of course to Adam and Eve’s paradise and “vale” being the poetic name for valley. The history of Edenvale dates back to 1902, when the first erven were sold tax free and people were encouraged to settle here. Today the area has a number of residential houses and homes for sale, as well as various smallholdings and farm land for sale in the outlying areas.
Largely a mining community, Edenvale’s progress was hampered by the Rand Revolt that took place in 1922. Many people were left without jobs for months and a voluntary committee was set up to run soup kitchens in the area.
