Alberton

Situated in the heart of Gauteng, Alberton is found just 10kms outside of Johannesburg and 25 minutes from the O.R. Tambo International Airport. The residential properties for sale are known to be some of the biggest in the country, with 80% ranging in size from 350 – 2000m². This means that the various houses and homes, apartments and flats for sale in Alberton are some of the most sought-after in Gauteng. It is certainly one of the more upmarket residential areas in South Africa.

The town of Alberton was established in 1904 and was originally part of a farm called Elandsfontein, owned by George Meyer, who sold 11 hectares to his stepson when he was just thirteen. Jan built his home near the stream, close to where the current civic centre stands today. He is responsible for starting the first general store and building a mansion in 1890 which miraculously still stands today having survived
