Part of the Eastern Cape, Umtata is on the N2 about 250kms north of East London and 400kms south of Durban. The area was once the capital of the nominally independent Bantustan of the Transkei during the apartheid era. It is the largest town in the Transkei region and is quite centrally located. The properties for sale in Umtata include residential houses and homes, apartments and flats, as well as various stands and commercial properties to buy.
Umtata is a typical African town, with a variety of small convenience centres offering fuel and fast food for the various travelers through the region. Many choose this as a resting point en route to the coast or Kwazulu Natal.
