Graaff Reinet
Located in the Eastern Cape, Graaff-Reinet is the fourth district ever to be proclaimed in South Africa and covered all the territory from the Gamtoos River in the west, to the Great Fish River in the east and the Indian Ocean south of the Orange River. Named after a Dutch governor and his wife, Graaf Reinet was a prime stopover point for travelers into the interior and often involved in political tensions and insurgence. The properties for sale in Graaff Reinet include residential houses and homes, as well as smallholdings and farms to buy in the outlying areas.
Always an essential trading point, in 1865 there were as many as sixty four public outspans in Graf Reynet and there were a vast number of inns established here as a result. Even today, you will find a good selection of guesthouses and other accommodation in the area.
Graaff-Reinet was recently voted for having the most effective Municipality in the country. The town was also voted as "Town of the Year" for 2010. Graaff-Reinet offers a safe and quality lifestyle for old and young.
