Tzaneen Property | Northern Province

Tzaneen is an attractive garden town found in South Africa’s Lowveld area, which makes up the country’s northern border.  The climate is relatively temperate, which ensures that everything grows in abundance here, from nuts and avocados, to fruit and vegetables, tea and cotton.  The tea plantations are extensive and the surrounding mountain slopes are well forested with pine and blue gum plantations.

The name Tzaneen derives from the word “tsaneng”, which means come together or the place where people gather.  It is the second largest town in the Northern Province and lies in the foothills of the impressive Wolkberg, which marks the northern reaches of the Drakensberg mountain range.  There are interesting archaeological sites in the vicinity, as well as game parks and nature reserves to keep both residents and visitors entertained.

There is a fascinating museum in Tzaneen that opened in August 1995, which is dedicated to a display of ethnological artifacts in the area.  The range includes weapons, pottery, beadwork, the largest collection of pole carvings in the world, royal and sacred drums, as well as general utensils used in everyday life.  The stunning natural scenery in the Limpopo provides an excellent backdrop for various recreational activities and tourist products on offer.  Property for sale in Tzaneen is definitely excellent value for money.
