South Peninsula Property | Cape Town

The False Bay coastline on Cape Town’s south peninsula is perhaps less trendy than the Atlantic Seaboard, but has the advantage of warmer water and is thus a popular destination for families.  The area offers a wealth of outdoor activities that include walking on endless stretches of beach, frequenting the local pubs and restaurants, browsing antique stores and art galleries, as well as hitting the surf.  This side of the Cape tends to have fewer holidaymakers and places like Fish Hoek are popular retirement locations.

Muizenberg has a beach that seems to go on for miles and is popular with surfers, while St James and Kalk Bay tend to attract the eclectic arty types.  Fishhoek is a relatively quiet town that has an interesting by-law banning the sale of alcohol, so you’ll find there are no liquor stores to be found.  Simon’s Town is has plenty of historical significance and this can be seen in the naval base, as well as various old buildings that line the main road.

The coastal village of Scarborough can be found around the tip of the South Peninsula and is a residential area that prides itself on conservation.  The neighbouring area of Misty Cliffs is home to some of the most expensive properties in the Cape.  It is more sheltered than its neighbour and the combination of high demand and scarce land ensure that the values are always increasing.  Further up you will find the more rural areas of Noordhoek and Kommetjie, which are both renowned for their endless stretches of beach and typical country lifestyle.  When it comes to coastal property, the South Peninsula offers some of the best in terms of lifestyle and location.
