Overberg Property | Cape Town

The Overberg region of the Western Cape is home to a number of rural areas where farming is the main practice.  There is an added bonus in that it also has a rugged coastline that offers some of the most unspoiled and relatively untouched stretches of beach in the South Africa. Hermanus is world famous as a whale watching resort and the Arabella Estate is home to a world-class championship golf course, as well as luxury homes and hotel facilities. Betty's Bay is known as a popular beach resort and is found along this stretch of coastline.

Cape Agulhas is the southernmost point on the African continent and takes its name from the Portuguese word for “needle”, after explorers arrived on the coast and noticed that their compass pointed straight north with no deviation.  It is also officially where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet and the rocky landscape has been the site of many a shipwreck in the past.

Bredasdorp is a primarily agricultural area that forms part of the Overberg region and produces mostly wool, wheat and dairy.  It also happens to be the administrative centre for the surrounding area and is home to the Heuningberg Nature Reserve.  The coastal villages include Gansbaai, Struisbaai and Suiderstrand, with Arniston and Napier also places worth mentioning.  Villiersdorp is a big fruit producing area and Theewaterskloof is home to a large dam that is popular with holidaymakers from all over the Cape. There is plenty of opportunity for property investment in the Overberg.
