Garden Route Property | Eastern Cape

The Garden Route is one of South Africa’s little gems when it comes to paradise locations by the sea.  World renowned and popular with tourists from all over the globe, the route follows the coast all the way from the Western Cape up into the Eastern Cape, boasting a wealth of scenic beauty and interesting adventures on the way.  The property found here is without a doubt some of the most sought after holiday and residential real estate in the country.

The Eastern Cape’s Garden Route begins with the Tsitsikamma National Park in Storms River, which is internationally recognized for its stunning forests conserving the Outeniqua Yellowwood.  The name Tsitsikamma is Khoisan for ‘place of many waters’ and is an apt description for this exquisitely beautiful area.  The national park is one of Africa’s oldest and biggest marine reserves and plays a vital part in the conservation of marine flora and fauna.  There are a number of scenic hiking trails in the region and the Otter Trail is by far its greatest asset.

Also on the Garden Route is St Francis Bay, which is located about 90km west of Port Elizabeth and a prime holiday resort.  The interesting little town is constructed in and around a web of manmade canals and waterways, which is the biggest of its kind on the continent.  The weather is known to be mild and sunny, with plenty of opportunity for leisurely activity, whether it’s lying on the beach, taking on the surf or trying your hand at some fishing.  There is also a little harbour port in St Francis that attracts plenty of attention for its quaint appeal.

Perhaps one of the most well known places in the Eastern Cape is Jeffreys Bay, which is reputedly home to the perfect wave and attracts surfing enthusiasts from around the world.  The town boasts a wonderful relaxed lifestyle typical of a coastal resort and the combination of beautiful beach and great weather make this part of the Garden Route a popular location for property investment.  Jeffreys Bay plays host to the Billabong Surfing Festival in July each year.

Other places worth mentioning that are found on the Eastern Cape side of this scenic route include Humansdorp, Oyster Bay, Joubertina and Paterson.  The southeastern coastline in South Africa offers some of the best weather and most stunning scenery in the world and it is really no wonder that property along the Garden Route is always in such high demand.
