Centurion Property | Pretoria

Centurion first became a municipality in 1964 after the townships of Doornkloof, Irene and Lyttleton were combined and originally took the name Verwoerdburg, but this was changed after apartheid.  The town’s position ensures easy access to both Johannesburg and Pretoria, as well as Gauteng’s O.R. Tambo International Airport.  Cricket fans will no doubt have watched many an international game at the Centurion Cricket Ground.

One of the area’s main attractions is the manmade Centurion Lake, which was developed along with an enormous shopping centre.  Apart from providing a sense of beauty, the lake is used for various watersport activities, such as canoeing, angling and windsurfing.  The musical fountain has hundreds of spray nozzles and coloured lights, which provide quite a sight in the evenings.

Nature buffs will enjoy the Zwartkop Nature Reserve located just outside Centurion, which has two perennial streams that flow within its borders and are used for the development of parks and walking trails.  This part of Pretoria is particularly beautiful and filled with abundant wildlife, boasting some 400 buck species, as well as a variety of bird species.  When it comes to property in the Pretoria region of Gauteng, Centurion is always a popular investment choice.
