Welcome to SAHometraders newsletter for the month of November. With less than 2 months left until, what some are already referring to as a “lean” Christmas, and no cause for celebration on the global economic front, it’s a good time to concentrate on the positives – like the fact that our property market has persistently shown us its resilience over time, and that even in this troubled market, house prices in South Africa rose by 1.5% in September. While the property market is in little danger of collapsing, it might be the end of traditional marketing as we know it, with Internet marketing growing by the day and its advantages far surpassing those of traditional marketing – especially when it comes to cost-effectiveness.

So bring out the fireworks and lets rather celebrate the good things in life while we focus on the things we can change. In the words of Trevor Manual: "Liduma lidlule - The thunder will pass…"

Stay Legally Informed
C & A Friedlander Attorneys have provided an update on the Trusts this month. “When a property is acquired in the name of a Trust, one needs to bear the following in mind:  the Trust must already exist prior to the trustee signing an Agreement of Sale to purchase immovable property.  In most cases the agent should request a resolution stating that the trustee is authorised to sign on the Trust’s behalf….” Click here to read the full article.

New Features

Another Back Office Boast
A while ago, we added to the back office, an option to acquire enquiry reports on listed properties, rentals, farms, developments, commercial properties and businesses. You can use these reports to see how many enquiries your properties had over a chosen period of time. It also displays the date of the enquiry, the name, contact number, e-mail address and country of the enquirer, as well as the Property ID. You are now able to download these reports, making it easy for you to move clients’ e-mail addresses to your database – which can then be used to do the necessary e-mail marketing.

Separate Before You Send
Did you know that you can now filter all contacts before sending off brochures? This makes it easier for you to send brochures to multiple contacts without having to select them one by one. You will be able to filter you contacts by first name, last name or date added. In a business where time is money, this feature will assist you in reaching selected contacts fast and effective. A good idea might be to clean out the closet by deleting your old contacts, or those you won’t be using again, to make this feature more efficient.

Build a Bigger Contact List
SAHometraders loves to give you advice to make our system work better for you. Why not add your own contacts to the contacts in the back office; therefore your e-mail marketing will reach a bigger audience.

Technical Issues

Session Timeouts
If you are busy loading or editing listings in the back office and leave the page inactive for more than 30 minutes, this will cause a timeout and all the changes will be lost.  Unfortunately, timeouts are necessary for security purposes, so be sure to save your changes before leaving the page for an extended period of time.

  • Subscription fees: R228 p/m for 10 listings or R399 p/m for unlimited listings
  • All costs include VAT
