Have you contributed to the Area Wiki?

area_wiki We had fantastic response to the Area Description Wiki since it was launched a few months ago. We would like to thank all the agents who took the time to send us area information and we hope that you will continue to update the area descriptions.

It is important to note that by adding information you have given potential buyers a more complete and accurate idea of the area that you operate in, not to mention earned yourself a link back to your listings from the area info page. Remember that the more unique and accurate info you add to the area info page, the more valuable your link will become.

To contribute to the Area Info Wiki, log into Agency Admin and click on Area Description. Remember to read the Terms and Conditions to ensure that your info gets published.

Meet the Team – How to Exclude a Profile & Control Display Order

If you are the owner of one of our quality agency websites you will be glad to know that you can now exclude an agent/agent team from the Meet the Team page. Lately we have received a number of enquiries from agents, especially those who have sales teams, to exclude these teams from the Meet the Team page in order to avoid duplication of profiles.

Should you wish to exclude an agent/agent team, go to Agency Admin<, click on Agents Admin and select the agent/agent team you want to exclude under Edit an Agent’s Details. Then simply click the Exclude from Meet the Team box.

The default order is Agency Office (if you have multiple offices linked to the website), Category (principle, selling agent etc), and then first name alphabetically. You can now replace the default ordering with your own preference. This will replace the third ordering option, which is name alphabetically.

How to Avoid and Deal with Spam

spam We often get enquiries on how to prevent spam/junk email flooding to your Inbox. The truth is that the best way to avoid spam is to ensure that you stay off spammers’ mailing lists.

Read on to find out how to do just that:

1.  Never publish your personal/business email address on any websites.  Using your personal/business address anywhere on the Web puts it at risk of being picked up by spammers, and once an email address is in the hands of even just one spammer, your Inbox is sure to be filled up with spam. If you want to publish ads on classified sites like Gumtree, open a free account with Gmail/Yahoo and use that email address as a contact. This way, if your email address gets picked up by spammers, your personal/business email address will not be spammed.

Please note: SAHometraders ensures that your email address is secured, as we use a contact form which gets sent to your email once a potential buyer enquires. This way your email address is never displayed and spammers can’t get hold of it.

2.  Never read, reply to or try to unsubscribe from spam emails as this is the spammers’ way of verifying that your email address exists.

3.  Before you join a mailing list, make sure the list owner or Webmaster will not sell your address. Check to see if you can opt out of receiving unsolicited email from the site where you're registering. If you are unsure about this, read the site's privacy statement.

4.  Don’t forward chain emails.

But what do you do if you are already on the spammers' list? Click here to learn how to block spam from entering your inbox.
